If I had a dollar for everytime I heard these phrases below I'd be a millionaire......
"To lose weight surely I have to eat less and exercise everyday right!?"
"I did an 800cal diet but fell off the wagon, the sugar cravings were just so strong"
"I gym everyday and eat healthy, but I just can't shift any weight!"
"I've tried everything! I'm just so frustrated at trying, what's the point"
"I'll lose more weight doing fasted exercise"
"If I skip my lunch, I can have the chocolate, it's still in my calories for the day"
"I've really overindugled, I need to go on a diet/juice cleanse/(insert latest FAD diet)"
"I've worked so hard all week, how is my weight up?! What's the point, I may as well eat whatever I want"

They are all based around eating less and/or exercising more aren't they! Frustration at eating what you believe to be healthy foods and working your butt off, only to end with the ongoing cycle of not seeing the results you desire. And ultimately the end result is the yo-yo dieting culture that has become so prominent in today's society.
This exact pattern is what I aim to banish! To show you how these are just misconceptions about the way we should eat! To educate and show you that there is a better, healthier way to live your life without such deprivation and extremes. So read on to see how!

On that note, pretty much all of the clients I end up helping, come to me with not only a weight loss goal, but also wanting and desperately hoping to improve their digestion and get rid of the uncomfortable bloating, pain, trouble going to the toilet and other IBS like symtpoms they have suffered with for many years....

For this reason the Purely Peach Approach follows a tried and proved method which has been successful in banishing these digestive symtpoms.
We eliminate the 2 most common inflammatory food ingredients for the first 6 weeks of a program, before trialling them back in and monitoring any difference in symptoms.
GLUTEN
and
DAIRY
As well as aiming to exclude/minimise Alcohol, Caffeine, Processed and Packaged foods.
We also use grains sparingly, and use high quality ones when we do include them, in order to promote weight loss. Whole grains are extremely nutritious, but if being used too regularly, there is potential for them to slow down weight loss results.
It's important to note that, gluten and dairy WILL NOT AFFECT EVERYONE! These are NOT BAD FOODS.
But from experience, if someone is experienceing bloating, cramping, pain, heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, wind, trouble losing weight or has had ongoing skin irritations, it is likely that they are sensitive to one of these common inflammatory food components and it could be affecting them in more ways than one.
Therefore 99% of the Purely Peach recipes are gluten and dairy free.
I believe from experience with talking to others, that if they have tried a similar method in the past, in eliminating these foods, they haven't really known of alternatives to use and therefore end up feeling deprived and as though they are missing out. And this is where the concern lies, we don't want to feel deprivation from food, or to see foods as good or bad, but to just understand that different foods/drinks will affect everyone differently and if we want to feel better, to experience change, that some changes may need to be made.
The great news is that just because this might mean that pasta, bread, pizza, burgers, cheese, yoghurt, milk are off the table for a few short weeks, there are other AMAZING ALTERNATIVE foods these days which still allows you to enjoy food similar to these, just with slightly different ingredients, meaning you can experience the best of both worlds.
During this time of elimination, a client is able to see how much better their symtpoms are, before then reintroducing one at a time to monitor how they feel.
With a bit of luck you will be completely fine eating these foods, but if you do have a digestive/skin reaction to that food, it is a sure sign that long term you may benefit from excluding it. Or at the very least, if you do consume it on the odd occassion and experience discomfort that you at least know WHY now, vs having complete confusion to the way you are feeling.
It is also important to note that you could have a gluten or dairy sensitivity without testing as coeliac or lactose intolerant.
So the ultimate message here, is listen to your body, if something doesn't feel right, if the same food culprits continue to make you feel unwell, then try something different and monitor the changes.
A final thought
So ultimately, by implementing the Purely Peach approach, those statements made at the beginning of this post become a distant memory.
Learn to see that starving yourself and exercising too much is counterproductive to your goals. Learn how much food you need to eat to MATCH your exercise amount but also know that rest days are important and allowed also.
That eating 800-1200cals is not sustainable nor healthy and will not allow you to succeed in the long term. It will lead to slowing your metabolism, contributing to fatigue and most definitely resulting in cravings/hunger and feeling deprived. FYI, most people's BMR (energy requirement at complete rest/sleep is between 1200-2500cals on average and that isn't even taking into account moving around or exercising)
That eating 'healthy' isn't always the full picture-you might be eating healthy ingredients, but still not enough or the correct amount of proteins and healthy fats alongside your carbohydrates, therefore your body could be in a starvation mode, holding on to body fat to give you enery and therefore making it impossible to lose weight.
To give you a solution to having tried 'EVERYTHING' by trying something DIFFERENT because let's be honest, almost all of EVERYTHING has been a 'diet' of some kind focusing on eating very minimal, not providing education and not being sustainable long term.
To improve your relationship with food and understanding of how food affects us so that we don't feel the need to count calories by the point or feel the need to overcompensate for previous food behaviours by starving yourself the rest of the day or week.
To help educate you on the many different factors that affect weight and to help you see your success in more ways than just that one number on the scale.
